Dahanu A drive along the picturesue Sahyadari mountain range and crisp coastal air takes you to Dahanu, which many refer to as the fruit bowl of Western India. Located between majestic hills and vast expanses of the Arabian sea, Dahanu lies only two and a half hours from Mumbai, Surat and Nashik by road and rail. Westward flowing rivers and rivulets emerging from gentle slopes, traversing through thick forests will greet you as you approach Dahanu. A mere 120 kilometres from the bustling city of Mumbai, vast expanses of chikoo, coconut, mango and even litchi greet you as you enter Dahanu. The sleepy tribal hamlets, home to the indigenous community of Warlis lie interspersed amongst the chikoo orchards, referred to locally as "wadi's". The "seths" (landlords and orchard owners) primarily Iranis, Marwaris and Gujaratis.
